Around 5:15 a.m. Sunday, crews were called to Pine Creek Drive (SR54) (between the intersections of SR1018 and Holly Road) in Rush Township for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment involving one vehicle.
Rescuers had too cut the roof of the vehicle to free the man from the vehicle. A PennSTAR helicopter landed at the Ryan Township Fire Company to transport the man to the hospital.
Firefighters on scene stated the injuries are severe.
Responding were Rush Township Police, Ryan Township Police, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, area fire police and firefighters from Hometown, Quakake, Delano and Ryan Township. Also responding were ambulances from Tamaqua, Lehighton and Ryan Township Rescue. Both lanes of SR54 were shutdown during the rescue and cleanup.
