Say goodbye to the mild weather. Today didn't get quite as crazy mild as some may have thought due to the very stubborn deck of low clouds and drizzle along the warm front. Still, low 50s in December is nothing to sneeze at. This time of year, we should be another 10 to 15 degrees below that. And that we will be come later Friday and Saturday. Our strong cold front moves through Friday morning along with some rain. A short break in the rainfall is possible before another round of precipitation kicks in later on Friday, just as the cold air behind the front really starts to flush in. It is then that I am expecting a bit of slushy snow mixing in and slicking up the ground, accumulating up to an inch or so across greater Schuylkill County, but not much more than that. Still, it may be no walk in the park on the roads Friday night, so use caution if you'll be out.
Our attention then turns to the late Sunday/early Monday storm which could be a bigger hitter with snow turning to an extended period of ice and then plain rain. That storm could really be a problem for Monday morning commuters. We'll know more exactly what that storm is going to do once this first one is outta here.
