Sunday House Fire Displaces Family in New Philadelphia

Two families, consisting of 8 children and 3 adults, are were displaced following a fire in a home in New Philadelphia (Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014). Around 1:45 PM, emergency crews were called to 174 Kimber Street for a fire in a bedroom. Firefighters arrived to see flames rising from the second story of the duplex home. Reports over the scanner said the fire started in the closet of the bedroom of the home, although that information hasn’t been confirmed.


Displaced by the fire are two adults and four children from 174 Kimber Street. Two adults and four children from the adjacent home, 172 Kimber Street, are back in their home.

A rabbit was also seen taken out of 174 Kimber Street by a firefighter. The rabbit survived.

Firefighters, from multiple districts, had the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
