According to witnesses, two children and four adults were involved in a two-vehicle accident Thursday in Middleport. Just before 4:45 PM, emergency personnel were called to the intersection of US209 and Washington Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident with injury.
Firefighters arrived to see a red Ford Escape on its side and a blue Hyundai Elantra with heavy damage to the front of the vehicle. Witnesses on scene said the occupants of the Ford (two children, one male, and one female) were able to get out on their own. The witness added that the female driver and female passenger of the Hyundai were treated by responding paramedics, with one being transported to the hospital via ambulance.
US209 was closed for about an hour during the response, while Middleport Fire Police directed traffic through Middleport.
Responding were fire companies from Middleport, New Philadelphia and Tuscarora. Also responding were State Police and Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven EMS.
Hope’s Towing removed the Hyundai, while A & K Auto Body removed the Ford.
