On February 15, 2014, Orwigsburg Police were dispatched to 11 Oakdale Estates for a burglary and assault that had taken place. The suspect, Matthew Gaugler, 28, of Auburn, barged into the home of Nicole Truax, 23, unexpected and uninvited at which time he proceeded to cause a verbal altercation with the victim and her guest.
Gaugler then reportedly spat on Truax before leaving the scene.
After taking the report, the Orwigsburg Police were called back to the scene when Gaugler returned to the residence and began beating on the exterior door and window. Police arrived to find Gaugler, visibly intoxicated, beating on the window of the residence.
Gaugler was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault, harrassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $15,000 straight cash bail. A preliminary hearing is tenatively scheduled for May 23rd.
