Parents and teachers were gathering support Thursday prior to the meeting to get people to attend the meeting in support of no furloughs.
To everyone's surprised, at the beginning of the meeting, the board's solicitor Jack Dean made an announcement.
"I'm happy to announce that the resolution has been tabled, will not be considered, there will be no furloughs in the Mahanoy Area School District professional staff this year."
The announcement was welcomed with an applause by over 100 people that attended the meeting.
