On September 18th, Local borough leaders from around the county gathered to
join in discussion and hear about important issues facing our municipalities at its annual Fall
dinner.
Mayor Christian Morrison of Tamaqua held the post of president of the organization for
more than six years and presided over dozens of meetings that gave officials the chance to
talk shop.
Citing ongoing dedication to his full-time job, Mayor Morrison addressed the gathering
one last time before tendering his resignation. After announcing his decision, board
secretary and board of directors member from Schuylkill County, Mary Labert of
McAdoo presented him a plaque for his many years of service.
In a unanimous vote, the board approved Frackville Borough Councilmember Brad
Gotshall to the position going forward.
Gotshall, the youngest elected president of the organization and council member of
Frackville, will join those that came before him in an attempt to bring Schuylkill County
boroughs together to hear and learn from each other.
“I want to thank everybody for the opportunity to lead this group and to help move the
organization forward,” said Brad before continuing to preside over the rest of the
meeting.
Representatives from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance, Frank Migneco and Daniel
Yelito, along with Leslie Suhr of the PA State Association of Boroughs gave
presentations on services provided and upcoming legislative initiatives.
