Officers were dispatched to a theft in the 1100 block of E Mahanoy St. Hasara allegedly unlawfully took a cedar chest valued at approx. $300 from the residence of 1112 E Mahanoy St. When the owner found Hasara with the cedar chest, Hasara struck the owner in the head causing injury. Hasara was still on scene when police arrived, arguing with the owner. Hasara fled from police into a wooded area and led police on a foot pursuit. Shenandoah police and Mahanoy Township police responded to assist in the foot pursuit and Hasara was captured a short time later. Hasara was arraigned by the on-call District Justice and was committed to the County prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
