Lottery Ticket Worth $1 Million Sold in Northumberland County

The PA Lottery Sold a MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB Ticket Worth $1 Million in Northumberland County

Middletown – One MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB™ ticket worth $1 million from the Friday, Nov. 7, drawing was sold at Turkey Hill, 140 W. Lincoln Street, Shamokin, Northumberland County. It was the first million-dollar winning ticket sold in Pennsylvania for this new multi-state game.

The ticket, bearing Millionaires’ Club number PA5781-0156-1953, won a prize of $1 million, less 25 percent federal withholding. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling this winning ticket.

The MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB Top Prize, $21 million, was won by a player in New Jersey. As a result of the Top Prize being won, a separate drawing was triggered to award 14 $1 million prizes, including the one sold in Pennsylvania.

The prize must be claimed and the ticket validated before winners can be identified. Pennsylvania Lottery MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The Lottery encourages the holder of the winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at any of Lottery’s seven area offices or at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County. Claims may be filed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices and at headquarters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More than 16,300 other Pennsylvania Lottery MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB tickets won prizes of varying amounts in the drawing, so players should check every ticket, every time. Drawings occur each Friday night.

In the 2012-13 fiscal year, in addition to awarding more than $19.8 million in prizes to winners across Northumberland County, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed more than $12.8 million to programs serving the county’s older residents.

How to Play: Players pay $5 and select five numbers from a pool of 52, choosing their own numbers or using the quick pick option to have their numbers randomly generated. A Property Number from 1 to 28, which corresponds to a Property on the MONOPOLY game board, is automatically generated by the terminal. A player must match all five numbers drawn plus the Property Number to win the Top Prize. The odds of winning the Top Prize are approximately 1 in 73 million. There are also nine other ways to win in each drawing, with prizes ranging from $5 (for matching two of the first five numbers) up to $100,000 (for matching the first five numbers).

The Millionaires’ Club Drawing: Each time the Top Prize is won, it immediately triggers a separate Millionaires’ Club drawing for at least 10 prizes of $1 million. Each ticket includes a unique Millionaires’ Club number. If a player’s Millionaires’ Club number is selected, that player wins one of the $1 million prizes being awarded that week. If the Top Prize is not won, it continues to grow until it reaches $25 million. For as long as no one wins the Top Prize, the number of $1 million prizes available increases until someone wins the Top Prize. Winning Millionaires’ Club numbers will be published online at www.palottery.com.

TV Game Show Entry Webcode: Each MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB Lottery game ticket features a unique entry code that players can immediately register at www.palottery.com for a chance to appear on the nationally televised game show launching in early 2015. One player on each episode will get a shot at winning $1 million. Players must submit codes online prior to claiming a prize. Nov. 25 is the deadline for the first drawing.

MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB lottery game tickets went on sale Oct. 19. Tickets are currently available in 23 states.
