MAHANOY CITY – State and local officials will announce funding plans for the redevelopment of the former Kaier’s Brewery property at a news conference on Friday, November 14 at 11 a.m. at the site of the blighted brewery.
Senator David G. Argall (R-29) and Representative Neal Goodman (D-123) will join Borough Manager Dan Lynch, local officials, and Champ Holman, former Deputy Secretary with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, to present a check and discuss the timeline for the property’s demolition.
Officials are planning to announce a significant investment from the state to assist the borough’s efforts to redevelop the site into a community park and playground.
According to the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania, Mahanoy City is the first municipality in Pennsylvania to have a dedicated blight-remediation fund set aside.
The funding will be announced at the former Kaier’s Brewery on the 200 block of North Main Street in Mahanoy City.
