- - Shenandoah - Downtown Shenandoah, Inc. will once again sponsor its "Old-Fashioned Christmas" on Black Friday, November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. Starting at 5:30 p.m. there will be a tree lighting, horse-drawn carriage rides, vignettes of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and cookies and refreshments at the Anthony P. Damato American Legion "Medal of Honor" Post 792, 116 North Main Street. The annual community event sponsored by Downtown Shenandoah Inc. brings both children and adults to the downtown where they can see the show and hear festive music performed by the Shenandoah Valley Brass Band. The free event is coordinated by Main Street Manager Mary Luscavage. The Old-Fashioned Christmas is held in cooperation with daylong Black Friday events in Shenandoah that include the Santa Drop sponsored by Ateeco Inc., makers of Mrs. T's Pierogies at Shenandoah Valley's Veterans Memorial Stadium, where Santa will land after parachuting from a plane. Santa will then travel through town in a firetruck parade befoer stopping at the Damato Legion hall to greet local youngsters. The Greater Shenandoah Area Chamber of Commerce will again sponsor the "Light Up the Park" effort aimed at lighting up trees in Girard Park.
