The Pennsylvania State Police announced Tuesday that they are ready to assist police and National Guard forces in Baltimore if needed.
The Pennsylvania State Police has offered assistance in response to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request from Maryland’s Emergency Management Agency. The EMAC request was made of Pennsylvania and other surrounding states to provide personnel and assets to assist with the State of Emergency currently active in the City of Baltimore. PSP has been in discussions with the Maryland State Police and the City of Baltimore and at this time we have not been requested to deploy to that area.
Pennsylvania State Police last responded to an EMAC request in the fall of 2012, when troopers were deployed to New Jersey in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. PSP assisted state and local law enforcement and helped with cleanup operations.
