Suspects Charged in Drug Sweep in Schuylkill and Berks Counties








UPDATE:  We made a correction as to what suspects are in custody and which are not

The Reading Eagle reported Wednesday that Berks County authorities announced that 24 suspects were charged in a drug sweep, some were from Schuylkill County.

  The following suspects ARE NOT in custody from Schuylkill County

• John H. Wayne, 33, 1000 Block of Centre St., Ashland
• Daniel P. Close, 49,  100 Block of Condor Lane, Pottsville

The following suspects are in custody from Schuylkill County

• Achille L. Walker, 40, 600 block of North Second Street, Pottsville
• Brian K. O'Connell, 43, of the 100 block of Long Row Road, Gilberton
• James L. Hall, 42, of the 200 block of Pattersonville Road, Ringtown;

All the suspects were charged with delivering, intending to deliver and conspiracy, among other charges.

Throughout the whole drug sweep, police were able to seize

• $180,000 worth of methampheamine
• $125,000 worth of cocaine
• $39,000 worth of heroin
• $78,000 in cash
• Drug paraphernalia
• Four vehicles
• Guns including 24 rifles, 14 handguns, 19 shotguns, eight assault rifles and eight revolvers
