When storms blew through Schuylkill County late Thursday afternoon, who would have thought a tornado would have been passing just to our south.
Media outlets later began reporting late Thursday showing images of the Blue Mountain Adventist Elementary School had collapsed during the storms. Videos by eyewitnesses began to show what really damaged the school.
The National Weather Service was on-site Friday morning to investigate and later confirmed that it was indeed a tornado that destroyed the school. The NWS classified the tornado as an EF-1 with winds up to 105 mph.
The school's principal was the only person in the school at the time and was not injured.
