Schuylkill County Housing Inmates in Prison Gym

The Times News Lehighton is reporting that during a County Prison Board Meeting on Wednesday, it was announced that 8-10 inmates were being housed in the Schuylkill County Prison's gym to relieve overcrowding.


The prison is reported to hold 277, but housed 325 as of September.

The overflow of inmates are being housed in the prison’s gym as officials fine-tune plans to send some of them to out-of-county prisons to comply with the state’s order to relieve overcrowding.
