Man Rescued from North Manheim Twp Fire; Cause Still Under Investigation

According to the Reading Eagle, an 81 year old man was rescued by neighbors when his house caught fire Friday.


Around 1PM Friday, fire crews were called to 28 Crestview Drive, near the Route 61 and Route 443 intersection, for a house fire.

Prior to firefighters arriving, neighbors rescued the 81 year old homeowner.

Firefighters were able to contain and put out the fire quickly but still caused roughly $100,000 worth of damage to home.

The fire reportedly started in a garage area not long after the homeowner parked a vehicle in the garage.

The exact cause is still under investigation and authorities are asking if anyone has any information on the how the fire started, they should call the State Police at (570) 874-5300.
