According to Minersville Police, approximately 11:40am Thursday, police were called to Tony's Meat Market, Minersville, for a fight that resulted from a robbery.
When police arrived, they were told that Mercedes Maria Alexander, 18, and her mother Heater Arias-Maravilla, 38, both of Minersville entered the store and Arias-Maravilla began to question the staff by asking questions about meat packages.
Arias-Maravilla reportedly distracted the staff with the questions while Alexander took the store's tip bucket then attempted to leave the store.
Two employees and another customer followed the pair out of the store attempting to stop them when they became combative and engaged in a fight.
Police were called and the two employees were able to subdue Arias-Maravilla and Alexander until they arrived.
Police took both into custody while an investigation took place.
While investigating the incident, Police discovered that the pair had committed thefts of change jars and a cellular phone at the Kings Village Shopping Center prior to this incident.
Arresting Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers charged Alexander with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft, simple assault, conspiracy to commit simple assault, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property, and a summary charge of disorderly conduct.
Both were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post their $25,000 bail.
