A Tuesday morning altercation is under investigation in Ashland.
According to Police, Around 6:45am, Tuesday morning, Ashland Police were called to the rear of 718 Centre Street for a reported disturbance with a male jumping up and down on vehicles and stating he had a gun. Witnesses that called in the incident reported that a physical altercation took place between 2 males, 1 that was wielding a baseball bat.
When Police arrived, the officer found one of the males wielding baseball bat. He complied to police and dropped the bat.
That male then reported the other was inside an apartment at 718 Centre Street with a handgun.
Additional backup from other communities was called and police began searching the addressed building and the surrounding areas.
The male was discovered on the roof of 720 Centre Street by Chief Todd Owens of the Mount Carmel Police Department.
Chief Owens made verbal contact with the male and was able to talk him off of the roof where he was taken into custody by Chief Livergood and Officer Hand of the Frackville Police Department.
The male was taken to Shamokin Area / Geisinger Hospital by Ashland EMS for injuries.
No names have been released as the incident is still under investigation.
Assisting Ashland Police at the scene were police departments from Mt. Carmel, Mt. Carmel Township, Frackville, Butler Township, Mahanoy City, Shenandoah , and State Police.
The Ashland Fire Department also assisted with it's ladder truck to secure the scene.
