(05/22/16) The burn ban that was issued April 22nd, 2016 for Schuylkill County will lift today, May 22nd, 2016 at noon.
The burn ban was originally issued last month when the county was experiencing an exceptional number of uncontrolled fires due to the carelessness of individuals.
After overwhelming support of area fire chiefs and on the recommendation of the District Forester, Timothy Ladner of the Weiser Forest District, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a county-wide ban on open burning that took effect at noon on Friday April 22, 2016 and will remained in place until today.
