On Saturday, the Rangers Hose Company, Girardville, held a day of activities to celebrate their 1916 Ford Model T fire engine turning 100 years old.
The day included food by the following vendors; Ashland Boy Scouts, Wilburton Hose Company, McDonald's Lunch (Girardville), and MaryKay's Funnel Cakes outside their fire company on Ogden Street.
An antique fire truck parade was held with nearly 50 fire engines from Schuylkill County and the surrounding areas. The parade apparatus started with the Model T, driven by Girardville Fire Chief Frank Zangari, and progressed in age over the last 100 years.
Engines were represented from each decade over the last century.
The engines sounded their whistles as they traveled the borough's parade route led by the Girardville Police Department, Schuylkill County Sheriff's Department, and American Legion.
Also in the parade was a float created by Thomas Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville American Legion, as well as Red White and Blue Auto Sales and Grand Marshal Terry O'Boyle.

The parade finished back at the fire company and as the engines approached they silenced their sirens. Each apparatus was announced as it passed the by Philip Groody, Fire Chief of the Ashland Fire Department. Chief Groody would stop many of the engines before they passed just because each had their own story to tell.
