No Sweat Service Group Street Stocks Take Center Stage Friday At Big Diamond Speedway

MINERSVILLE, PA. – There will be plenty of side-by-side and three- and four-wide action on Friday night as the No Sweat Service Group Street Stocks are featured in the Street Stock Summer Shootout 30 on Jasen’s Automotive Night at Big Diamond Speedway.


The on-track racing has been exciting for the division all year.

Eric Tripp, of Wernersville, leads the division with two wins while defending street stock champion Rich Bossinger, of Lebanon, is the points leader heading into Friday.

The 30-lap feature for the street stocks pays $1,081 to win and there will be a cash dash for $200 to win. There is sn open draw for the heat races and a redraw for the feature.

Big Diamond street stock drivers will receive 50 show-up points while the track and Susquehanna Speedway rules apply (no strut cars).

"I think it's great thing to have a big race for the class," Bossinger said. "Jake (Smulley, promoter) and Big Diamond Speedway have done a great job in getting this class organized. This is only our second season and the car counts doubled. I'm also thankful to Geesamans Automotive for sponsoring this big race. I can see a great car count happening on Friday night.

The street stock division has been a part of the speedway's rich racing history during the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Elvin Brennan III, of Forestville, a feature winner this year On June 3 , was the 2010 roadrunner champion at the track.

"It means a lot to me," Brennan said of the extra money on the line in the 30-lap feature. "The extra distance, which is really just 10 laps to most people, actually means a lot. You can gain some ground from getting caught up in earlier incident. The payout is great and I want to thank the track and sponsors for making things like this happen. It is nice that they do races like these higher payout shows which can really help people out with equipment and maintenance cost."

Also appearing on Friday will be the CJ’s Tire & Automotive Services 358 modifieds, U.S.S. Achey sportsman and the Savage 61 roadrunners.

General admission is $15; Seniors $13; and kids 12-and-under and along with active Military with a valid ID are free. The gates will open at 5:30 with warm ups at 7:45 and racing gets underway at 8:15.

Coming up on July 1 is the George-Georgie Stevenson Memorial for the 358 modifieds on B&H Landscaping Night.

Next Friday, it's the B&H Landscaping George-Georgie Stevenson Memorial as the 358 modified will race 30 laps for $4,000 to win with $300 to take the green and the Mark’s Service Center cash dash. The sportsman features pays $1,000 to win. Also on July 1, the roadrunners, 600 Modifieds will be in action. At intermission, a great fireworks show is planned.
