The Mahanoy City Police posted the following regarding a phone scam that residents are receiving.
Several Borough residents are reporting receiving phone calls from a Jason Rodriguez 1-800-494-3808 stating he is from PPL and that if they do not provide him with a check number, the power will be shut off in 45 minutes, THIS IS A SCAM
