In an effort to get important information such as contact numbers for the police and various youth counseling services to young people in our community, the organizations will be implementing a proactive public service program called “GET CAUGHT DOING SOMETHING GOOD” beginning this August and running through October.
Police Officers in the Borough of Mahanoy City will be supplied with these “tickets” and small gift cards they will distribute in uniform during patrols to children and teens whom have been caught doing something good, involved with doing something positive for themselves or others.
The recipients recognized for doing the right thing will be awarded the “ticket” which will have the 24/7 contact information for the Mahanoy City Police along with various social agencies, along with the gift card for a local participating business.
Small information “tickets” have been designed to help provide information to any young person who may be having difficulty with bullying, drug and/or alcohol use, or any personal problem that could be made better by the intervention of a professional.
"We want to make our children aware of the many services available to them and their friends that are just a phone call away", a press release from The Suicide Prevention Task Force stated.
The group urges you to speak with your children, friends and neighbors about this program and let them know that they can get “caught” doing something good.
If your child comes home with a gift card ticket please know that we have recognized them for their positive behavior and you can be proud of this accomplishment!
