The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Thursday a project will begin August 8 to improve the western intersection of US 209 and PA 901 in Branch and Norwegian townships, Schuylkill County.
The project will signalize the intersection, and will include a protected left turn arrow from US 209 south/PA 901 west to US 209 south. The project also includes a new right turn lane from US 209 north to US 209 north/PA 901 east, milling and paving at the intersection, drainage improvements, new signs, new line paint and new guiderail.
Motorists should remain alert for changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area of this intersection until all work is complete (work is expected to be complete in May 2017).
Kriger Construction, Inc. of Dickson City, Pa. is the general contractor on the $914,126 project.
