Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) has named Robin Flores as this year’s recipient of the Collegiate Award of Distinction, which is determined each year by the college’s Board of Trustees. The award will be presented to Flores on Friday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center on the college’s main campus during the LCCC Foundation’s annual Fall Festival.
The LCCC Collegiate Award of Distinction is presented annually by the college’s Board of Trustees to recognize a person or organization for unique contributions to the community, service and dedication in support of education, and to honor those who have demonstrated their commitment to the college and its students.
“Ms. Flores has been a fervent advocate and supporter of Lehigh Carbon Community College and the LCCC Foundation. She epitomizes the opportunities and mission of Lehigh Carbon Community College to provide an affordable education for its students,” said Lehigh Carbon Community College President Ann D. Bieber.
Ms. Flores was a member of the first graduating class of the newly established Lehigh Carbon Community College, singing the Alma Mater during that first graduation ceremony in 1969. After earning her degree from LCCC, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education and English from Kutztown University and later earned her master’s in administration from the University of Scranton.
She was named to the Who’s Who of American Women, and is a member of the National Association of Female Executives. She received the Winning Partnership Award from the Pennsylvania Department of the Aging; the Nike Award from the Business and Professional Women Organization, and was named Alumna of the Year for Lehigh Carbon Community College. She currently serves on the LCCC Foundation Board of Directors, and is chair of the LCCC Foundation Events Committee, and serves as the director of Development and Grants Management at the Literacy Center of the Lehigh Valley.
