Driver Flown After Crash Involving DUI

A driver was flown due to injuries after a crash involving driving under the influence early Sunday.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, around 1:15am Sunday, Patric Boyer, 39, of Hegins,  was traveling west on Route 901, in Foster Township and was observed to be driving erratically.  The vehicle reportedly crossed the Route 901 bridge over Interstate 81 at a high rate of speed, then took a sudden left turn toward the Route 901 westbound-to-Interstate 81 on-ramp still traveling at a high speed.

Boyer's vehicle slid across the on-ramp lane, jumped/crossed over a concrete traffic island. and continued to skid across the Route 901 eastbound-to-Interstate 81 on-ramp lane.

The vehicle struck and bounced off the guiderail and came to rest facing southeast on the on-ramp.

Boyer was reported to not be wearing his seatbelt and was pinned in the vehicle and needed to be extricating.

He was transported by Schuylkill EMS to a medevac landing zone, then flown to the Hershey Medical Center with serious injuries.

Minersville Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.

Boyer will be charged with driving under the influence.
