Man Facing Drug Charges After Traffic Stop
The West Mahanoy Township Police have filed drug charges as a result of a vehicle stop on January 8th, 2017. Joshua Phelan, Ashland, was stopped for a traffic violation and during the stop was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia.
Phelan will have to answer to charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and several traffic offenses before Magisterial District Judge Hale, Frackville.

Multiple Crashes Reported on Interstate 81 During Snowfall
The first crash occurred in the Northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Butler Township around 12:30pm.
The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville report that a vehicle driven by Warren Green, of New Orleans, LA was travelling north in the right lane while it was snowing and was traveling too fast for conditions and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle spun and came to rest partially in the passing lane and left shoulder of the interstate.
A second vehicle, driven by Brady Darosh, of Pottsville was travelling in the passing lane when Green spun and was unable to evade the vehicle and made impact with Green's vehicle spinning it off the highway.
Both vehicles had a passengers that suffered minor injuries in the crash. All involved in the crash were reported to have been wearing their seat belts.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Englewood Fire and Shenandoah EMS assisted at the scene.
A second crash occurred around 12:50pm near Milemarker 119 when a vehicle driven by Samantha House, 28, of Dalton was travelling south in snowy conditions when a tractor trailer travelling in the passing lane abruptly entered the path of House's vehicle. House attempted to evade a crash by swerving and went off the highway into a snow covered area.
No injuries were reported.
