According to Pottsville Police, just after 12:15am, Friday, Pottsville Police were called to Sarge’s Soup and Sandwich, 538 N. Centre Street, for a report of shots fired inside the bar area.
When Police arrived they found evidence of gunfire damage as well as blood indicating injury.
Police were later advised around 12:30am that Kristopher Negron, 21, of Pottsville had been brought to Lehigh Valley Medical Center South with gunshot wounds. A second person, Daiquen Price, 25, was taken to Lehigh Valley Medical Center East with gunshot wounds. Both Negron's and Price's wounds were not life threatening
An investigation revealed that at approximately 12:15am Negron had been involved in an on-going argument with Price concerning a mutual female acquaintance while both were inside Sarge’s Soup and Sandwich, along with one male acquaintance with each.
The verbal argument led to gunfire being exchanged by both Negron and Price who were then transported from the location by their acquaintances.
Price was treated and released and then transported to Pottsville City Hall by police for questioning.
During the interview Price admitted he had been involved in the incident with Negron and that he had actively participated by firing his weapon – a .22 semi-automatic handgun- at Negron as Negron fired a small caliber handgun at him.
Independent witnesses also corroborated the account of events during separate interviews with police.
Pottsville Bureau of Police Criminal Investigators processing the scene found evidence of at least 7 shots being fired.
Investigators are still actively executing several search warrants at various locations and on vehicles used during the incident.
Criminal complaints are being prepared charging both Price and Negron with Attempted Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering the Welfare of Another, and Possessing Instruments of Crime.
Price was arraigned earlier Friday and Negron is being treated for his injuries at a medical facility out of the area and will be arraigned following the completion of his treatment.
