John D. Mehalsky, 84, of Morea, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 21st, peacefully, at his residence.
John was born in Morea, PA on May 3, 1932, a son of the late Anna (Lapinsky) Hehalsky and John Mehalsky.
He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church Mahanoy City.
John Graduated from Mahanoy Township High School Class of 1951.
John served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt in the Korean War.
He had worked for General Electric Corp, in Allentown and had retired in 1985.
He was husband of the late Mary Lou (Kielman) Kachmar - Mehalsky.
John is survived by a step daughter, Rosemary Bieniek and family, of Barnesville, a step son, Joseph Kachmar and family, of Illinois; nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by sisters Dolores Brown, Eleanor Dunsavage, Theresa Lesko, and Catherine Dillon.
Office of Christian Burial and Divine Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 25th, with Rev. James Carroll officiating. There will be no calling hours Saturday.
Friends may call Friday afternoon 4 to 6 PM at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Mahanoy City. Panachida will take place at 5:30pm.
Interment will be in Skyview Memorial Park Hometown.

Hazel Ann Haas, devoted wife, daughter, mother, mom-mom, sister, 71 years of age of Zion Stone Church Road, New Ringgold, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Salisbury Twp..
Survived by her husband of fifty-one years, DelRoy R. Hass; daughters, Mrs. Charlotte I. Fritz wife of Darryl of New Ringgold, Mrs. Marianne Storch of Etters; son, Mark R. Haas and his wife Karen of Seymor, IN; brother, Steven Carnes of Lexington, KY; grand children, Zach, Mary-Kate, Anna-Beth, Caroline, Alyssa, Derek, Gabriel, Makenna, and Ryan.
A graduate of Henry Clay High School of Lexington KY, Hazel earned her beauticians certification from the Empire Beauty School in Pottsville. She had worked as a Van Aide for Kistler Transportation, and previously at the Blue Mt. Christian Retreat Green House's in New Ringgold, and in the Textile Industry.
A member of Zion Stone Church of West Penn Twp., Hazel was a talented artist who painted beautiful ceramic pieces. A talented guitar player, Hazel enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family.
Born Thursday, July 5, 1945 in Albany, Kentucky, the daughter of Marynell (Whittenburg) Carnes-Poff of Lexington, KY, and the late Finis Carnes.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock A.M. on Tuesday February 28, 2017 from Zion Stone Church of West Penn Township located at 45 Cemetery Road New Ringgold, Pennsylvania 17960, Rev. Kevin T. Melber Jr. to officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 27, 2017, at Robert S. Nester Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 2066 West Penn Pike, New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, and on the morning of services in the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.

Candace M. Alexander, 24, of Gordon, passed away late Monday night February 20, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born at the Pottsville Hospital June 13, 1992, she was the daughter of Edward and Tina Dietrick Alexander.
A Graduate of North Schuylkill Class of 2011, Candace later attended Philadelphia Art Institute, with a concentration in studio art and graphic design. She was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandfather George Troutman, Sr; paternal Grandparents Thomas and Martha Alexander; Great Grandparents Charles and Blanche Carl, and Andrew and Eleanor Schronick.
A free spirit, Candace marched to the beat of her own drum and had a passion for music and art at a young age. Candace loved all animals, and treasured her high school summers volunteering at the Hillside SPCA with her friends. She cherished the time and conversations with her grandparents, and was deeply loved by all who knew her.
