POTTSVILLE - On February 11, 2017 around 11:30am, a 21 year old Pottsville woman arrived at Pottsville City Hall to report that she had been assaulted while in the parking lot of Woody’s Bar, Peacock Street, Pottsville at approximately 12:30am that morning.
The woman told police that she and her boyfriend of 10 months, Keeray Jameel Thomas, 22, of St. Clair had been verbally arguing when it escalated and she found herself lying on the ground with Thomas standing over her. Thomas then bent over and used his two hands to strangle her for approximately 20 seconds during which time the woman reported to she almost lost consciousness and was unable to yell for help.
At the time she spoke with Pottsville police Cpl. Charles Webber the woman had visible injury around her neck to support her statement.
Based on the information received Webber completed a criminal complaint requesting a warrant of arrest for Thomas charging him Domestic Violence Simple Assault, Strangulation, and Harassment.
Attempts to locate Thomas at the time of the initial investigation were unsuccessful.
On Monday 2/13/17, Thomas came to City Hall with his mother and the victim in this case, and he was then transported to Magisterial District Judge Reiley's office for arraignment on the charges. Reiley was released Thomas on $15,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing.

Man Charged with Assault
POTTSVILLE - On Sunday February 12, 2017 around 11:06PM, Pottsville Police were dispatched to 645 John O’Hara for a report of a domestic dispute that was physical in nature.
A 39 year old Pottsville woman reported that she and her ex-boyfriend, Wayne Reed, 57, of Pottsville, engaged in a verbal argument that led to Reed placing both of his hands on the woman’s neck and impeding her breathing and circulation of blood during which time she nearly lost consciousness.
Officer’s observed redness on the victim’s neck and she reported pain as well, but refused medical treatment on scene.
Reed fled from the location prior to police arrival but was later taken into custody. Arresting officer Ptlm. Bryce Lewis prepared a criminal complaint charging Reed with Felony Strangulation, Domestic Violence Simple Assault, and Harassment.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Reiley and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $15,000, ten percent bail.

Man Charged with Making Threats to Employee
POTTSVILLE - On Monday February 13, 2017, Pottsville Bureau of Police officers were contacted by personnel at the Meadows Behavior Health Services in reference to a male subject making threats towards personnel.
Upon contacting The Meadows, it was discovered that on February 13th, Arthur Joseph Johns, 59, of 317 South Centre St. Pottsville had called the facility from his Pottsville residence and made threats directed towards a specific female employee.
Because Johns was familiar with both the facility location and the employee the threats caused the victim significant fear and harassment. It was also noted that Johns, on or about February 5th, 2017 made a similar phone call to the Meadows and made a similar threat to "come after them".
Based upon the results of the investigation Ptlm Joseph Murton prepared a criminal complaint charging Johns with Terroristic Threats and Harassment.
Johns was subsequently taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Reiley who set bail at $15,000. Johns was then remanded to the Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.
