According to the Mahanoy Township Police, a resident reported that they received a call from someone saying they were an inmate from the Schuylkill County Prison and wanted them to send money via Western Union.
The phone number was identified as (570) 628-2269 and the person on the phone directed the recipient to call 1-800-483-8314 to deposit the money.
If anyone should receive a call like this, report it to authorities.
