Dorothy Mary Klees Hornung, 92, formerly of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Ridgeview Healthcare Center, Shenandoah, PA.
Born in Girardville, PA March 5, 1925 the daughter of the late Robert and Hannah (Banning) Klees. Dot was a graduate of Girardville High School, class of 1943. She was a member ot the Methodist Presbyterian Church of Ashland. She was formerly employed by the State Worker's Compensation Bureau, ALCOA, Goyne Pump Company, Flash Store, and had been an active long-time member of the Museum of Anthracite Mining, the Pioneer Tunnel, and the Ashland Chamber of Commerce. She was a direct descendant of Casper Hepler, a 1748 immigrant to Provincial Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Horning, parents, and her brothers John R. Klees Sr. and Harold Klees.
Surviving are her nephew John R. Klees, Jr. and his wife Roseann, who were her caregivers in the last years of her life; their daughter Juneann, and granddaughter Jane; nephew Donald P. Klees Sr., his sons Donald P. Klees, Jr. and Brian Klees; and grandchildren: Alex, Bryn, George, Patrick, and Will; niece Grace Ann Jadush and her children Jayme and Jason, and niece Janet Klees Gore, her daughter Karen, and grandson Jackson. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Girardville, PA. Viewing Saturday 9:30-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
