According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred around 8:30pm when a tractor trailer traveling southbound lost control near Milemarker 89 and crossed the center median into northbound traffic.
The tractor trailer struck a vehicle driven by Haley Wetzel, 19 with Julia Williams, 60, as a passenger. Both were from Pottsville.
Wetzel and Williams both died from their injuries suffered in the crash.
