Kid’s art will abound at the Schuylkill County Fair this year because the fair is excited to partner with the Arts Barn of Orwigsburg. Who better than the Arts Barn to help the fair operate the Kids Tent. The Kids Tent is where all the fun is happening from hands on art projects to be done, bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles, handprints, games, contests and mush more.
The Kids Tent it will be open daily and operated by The Arts Barn Education Center daily from 4:30 to 7:30 and 12- to 7:30 on Kids Day as well as from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday. Stop by to make and take crafts focused around agriculture and nature with the emphasis of this year’s fair theme of “Country Scenes – Blue Ribbon Dreams.” Lauren Anderson, Arts Barn Kids Director is excited to bring new and exciting ideas to arts and crafts done in the Kids Tent. The Arts Barn educators are sure to have a number of fun crafts for kids of all ages. The crafts are easy, hands on and fun for all to take home to remember the good time at the fair.
Lauren is excited to engage children in a number of make and take activities that include but are not limited Tie-dye Butterflies, Doodle Table, Ooblick, Collaborative Recycling Project, Free-style Art is just that drawing, doodling, designing with markers, crayons, paper, glue, and scissors with the theme “Country Scenes – Blue Ribbon Dreams”. This activity allows each kid and (young at heart) to have the freedom to create with the fair’s theme as artistic inspiration.
The fun will include:
· Ooblick makes a returns: A hands-on collaborative science experience. Kids and adults alike will love the quick-sand like material, also known as Non-Newtonian Fluids
· Tie-dye Butterflies: Create a one of a kind tie-dye butterfly, using coffee filters, washable markers, water and yarn. This project is in keeping with the pollinator theme at this year’s fair.
· Doodle Table: Draw, mark, stamp and sticker your own original masterpieces
· Collaborative Recycling Project: We'll turn recyclable materials into large scale works of art, using newspapers, magazines, plastic and metal bottle tops, beads, and more
As Arts Barn Kids Director, Lauren hopes all childten will stop by the Kids Tent during the fair to participate in the many hands on art projects. All of these projects are sponsored by the Arts Barn in Orwigsburg in conjunction with the Schuylkill County Fair. Stop in for some great fun.
