Queen Kayla will be visiting the Schuylkill County Fair to judge during the Schuylkill County Fair Queen Coronation on Monday, July 31st. She will also be working closely with local beekeepers in the Schuylkill County Fair Apiary Department located at the lower end of the fairgrounds on the midway and will host a craft there throughout Kid’s Day on Tuesday, August 1st.
The Pennsylvania Honey Queen and Princess are the main promoters of Pennsylvania's honey and beekeeping industries. They are spokespersons for the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association, public educators, honey and beeswax products promoters, and ambassadors for the honey and beekeeping industries. The Honey Queen and Princess travel throughout the state speaking at schools, fairs, festivals, beekeeping meetings, before government officials and through media interviews about the importance of honey bees and the beekeeping industry in Pennsylvania.
In addition, the Pennsylvania Honey Queen is eligible for a national title. Queen Kayla will compete for the American Honey Queen title at the annual American Beekeeping Federation Conference & Tradeshow to be held in Reno, Nevada in January of 2018.
Kayla, 22, is the daughter of Brian and Diane Fusselman of Kempton, Pa. She is a graduate of Kutztown University, where she majored in art education. While in high school, Kayla was a member of FFA, the horticulture club, student council, chorus, National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has previously served as the Kempton Fair Queen. In her free time, Kayla enjoys writing, making clay jewelry, painting and flower arranging.
Queen Kayla will be in attendance at the Schuylkill County Fair on Monday, July 31st and Tuesday, August 1st and will be available for an interview at that time.
