Raydell E. Wychunas, age 92, of Pottsville, PA , passed away on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services in Pottsville. Born in Pottsville, PA on February 12, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Martha (Cooper) Yeich. Raydell worked in the garment industry as a sewing machine operator, last working for Peek-A-Boo Styles in Schuylkill Haven until retiring in 1992. Raydell was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pottsville. She loved to crochet, bake and decorate cakes, and just take good care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Albert J. Wychunas Sr. who died in April of 1993, a son Albert J. Wychunas Jr., a daughter Maryann Wychunas, a great great-grandson Trel Kopinitz and 10 siblings. Raydell is survived by daughter Helen M. Heimbaugh, Pottsville; son Edward F. Wychunas and his wife Jennifer, Ashland; son Anthony Wychunas and his wife Tracey, Barnesville; daughter Cheryl A. Wychunas, Pottsville; son Gerald R. Wychunas and his wife Tina, Middleport; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great great-grandson; sister Nancy Fritz, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, PA. at 11AM on Monday, July 17th, with Rev. David Loper officiating. Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Monday morning from 9-10:30AM at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home 208 Pike St., Port Carbon. Interment will be held private. Florence Marion Waizenegger, RN, age 81, of Palo Alto, PA, former resident of Hegins for 60 years, passed away Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 at her home. Born in Palo Alto, PA on August 31, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel (Gilmore) Fisher. Florence was a graduate of Soldier's Memorial High School in Port Carbon, Class of 1953. She then graduated from the Episcopal Hospital School of Nusing and Temple University in Philadelphia in 1956 as a registered nurse. Florence first started working at the Good Samaritan Maturnity Department and then worked for Dr. Donald Malick's General Practice for 42 years. After that, she worked for Dr. Soli Traveria and Dr. Kamla Mishra and finally retired from the York Terrace Nursing Home in Pottsville. Florence was a member of Salem Methodist Church in Weishample, a member of the Episcopal Hospital Alumni Associtation, the Retired Nurses of Schuylkill County, and the Ashland Eastern Star, Chapter 154. She was a former member of the Weishample Grange, the Hegin's Area Ambulance Board, and the TriValley Senior Citizen's Association. Florence enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling, hiking, camping, and just being outside. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Edward Raymond Waizenegger on January 21, 1990 and a sister Hazel Carestia Christman. Florence is survived by a daughter Diane E. Newswanger and her husband Jay, Schuylkill Haven, PA; 2 sons: Edward R. Waizenegger III and his wife Patricia, Lebanon, PA and Jesse A. Waizenegger and his wife Anna Weikel, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren: Danielle Guldin, New York, Justene Frushon and her husband Christopher, Pine Grove, Meghan Cherry and her husband Jonathan, Beaver Creek, Ohio, Sarah and Jessica Waizenegger, Pittman, NJ, Jacqueline and Ally Waizenegger, Mississippi, Seth and Ty Waizenegger, Hegins, PA, and Ryan Greene, Hegins, PA ; 5 great-grandchildren: Hannah, Elizabeth, and Aiden Cherry, and Marshall and Claire Frushon, 2 sisters: Mildred Dornitsky, Palo Alto, PA and Doris Nissley, Freidensburg, PA; 2 brothers: Edward Fisher and his wife Carolyn, Tamaqua, PA and Terrence Fisher, Mechanicsville, PA; a sister-in-law Helen Leibig and her husband Walter, Camp Hill, PA; and nieces, nephews, and Cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 11AM on Tuesday, July 18th, with Pastor Shawn VanDyke officiating. Marie C. Gernavage, 85 years of age of East Union Street, Tamaqua, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017, at her son Edmund's home in Langhorne, Pennsylvania while in the care of he and his wife Carol.
Married on Sept. 23, 1950 to her late husband, Edmund V. Gernavage who passed away on December 28, 2007 she is survived by her son Edmund T. Gernavage and his wife Carol; grandchildren, Marissa (Stoudt) Blackwell, Shelia (Gernavage) Weisenborn and her husband Henry, Eric Gernavage; great grandchildren, Logan, and Sienna Weisenborn.
A graduate of Tamaqua High School, Marie had worked at the former Genetti's Grocery Store in Tamaqua, and the for many years at Sopkas's & Knowles's Market on East Union Street in Tamaqua, and for Fegley's Mini-Mart also in Tamaqua. Marie was an excellent baker, making many pies and nut rolls for friends and family during the holidays.
Born Friday, November 13, 1931 the daughter of the late Thomas, and Angeline (Cameron) Fucci. Marie was also predeceased by her daughters, Ann Marie Gernavage in 1975, and Jeanine Gernavage in 2015.
Interment will be in St. Jerome's R.C.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
