William C. “Bill” Schuettler, Sr., 89 of Pottsville, died Tuesday evening at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pottsville.
He was born March 7, 1928 in Pottsville son of the late Conrad A. and Ruth M. Seltzer Schuettler.
He was a graduate of Pottsville High School.
He was an Army veteran having severed during the Korean War.
When Bill was young, he started working with his father at a Bakery making deliveries, he was later employed as an Insurance Agent for the former Lutheran Brotherhood prior to retiring.
Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a teacher for the Adult Sunday School, former member of Finance Committee and was a former church council President, a member and past president of the Pottsville Kiwanis Club where the club had renamed their Agricultural Scholarship Award to the William C. Schuettler Agricultural Scholarship Award in Bill’s honor this past November. He was also a member of the former Union Bank & Trust Board, the former Children’s Home Board, which later became the Benevolent Association Board, Million Dollar Round Table of the former Lutheran Brotherhood, and Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries. Bill was also a life member of the former Greenwood Hill Fire Company, Pottsville and volunteered his time at Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Pottsville.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years Grace Calloway Schuettler; a son, William C. Schuettler, Jr. and his wife Susan, Port Carbon; a daughter, Susan Costello and her husband Tom, Lumberton, NJ: 4 grandchildren, Benjamin and Gregory Schuettler, Andrea Thorn and Sara Costello: Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.
Services will be held Saturday at 11A.M. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, with the Rev. Harold L. Hand, Jr., and Rev. Chris Rothharpt officiating. Family and friends are invited to call from 9A.M. until the time of services. Interment with military honors will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form contributions made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St. Pottsville PA, 17901 or Pottsville Kiwanis Foundation, P.O. Christine was born in Ringtown, PA on September 3, 1970, a daughter of Mary (Ambrose) Boxer and the late Anthony Boxer Jr.
She graduated from North Schuylkill High School class of 1988. She also graduated from Empire Beauty School, Pottsville.
Christine is survived by a son, Joseph E. Bennett, of Pittsburgh, a sister, Karen Boxer-Hemerick, of Ringtown, uncles Anthony Ambrose, VA, John Ambrose, Gordon, Michael Ambrose, Pottsville, Jerome Stauffer Sr., Zion Grove, an aunt Julia A. Boxer, Mahanoy City, and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by an Uncle Vytas Ambrose, and Aunt Betty Jane Weikel.
Services are private at the convenience of family.

Klara K Burkle, age 84, of Pine Grove, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the home of her son in Pine Grove.
She was born on Tuesday, June 13, 1933, in Augsburg, Germany, a daughter of the late Johan and Klara Gruber.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.
Klara enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watching movies, reading German books, and gardening.
Her husband Alfred W Burkle passed away in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Helmut Gruber; and by a sister, Frances Pierce.
She is survived by three sons, William F Thesing of Willow Grove, Ronald T Burkle and his wife Valerie of Skippack, and Stephen A Burkle and his wife Linda of Pine Grove; a daughter, Andrea K Knoll and her husband Randall of Pine Grove; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Hannelore Koziol of Colchester, CT; a brother, Hans Gruber of Stadbergen, Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 11:00 am, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Rev. Richard Schoenleber officiating.
