Born in St. Clair, July 21, 1927, She was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Kalinich) Laurie.
Elsie retired as a Seamstress after working in various garment factories.
She was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church , St. Clair, Saint Michael Sisterhood, and The International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Michael Stencovage, 3 sisters Margaret Kapusta, Mary Gursky, Anna Sekela; a brother Charles Laurie.
Surviving are her daughter Carolyn Hannis and her husband, Frank Sr., Shenandoah Heights, a granddaughter Amy Hannis-Miskar, and her husband, Nicholas Miskar, Frackville, a grandson Frank J. Hannis Jr., and his wife, Jessica, 5 Great Grandchildren Brooke , Brielle, and Brynn Hannis-Miskar, Violet and Eric Hannis, 2 brothers Michael Laurie, Schuylkill Haven and John Laurie, Saint Clair, Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday from St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 109 North Nichols Street, St. Clair. The Rev. Jeff Zias will be officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday or 8:30– 9:30 Tuesday at the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street, St. Clair. Parastas will be Monday at 7:30 PM. Born on November 11, 1922 in Pine Grove Twp., she was a daughter of the late George and Mabel Knapp Rumpf.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. She was a 1940 graduate of Pine Grove High School.
Shirley worked as a Seamstress for Former Fox-Knapp Mfg. in Pine Grove.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Leroy W. Lehman; a brother, Carl Rumpf; three sisters, Josephine Smolskis, Anna Allison and June Strausser.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol and husband Gerald Anderson of Sinking Spring, Diane and husband Tom Cleary of Pine Grove; a son, Lamar and wife De Lehman; 4grandchildren, Steve Cleary, David Lehman, Jen Foose and Brandy Lehman; 4 great grandchildren, Calder and Covington Lehman, Connor Cleary and Aaron Foose; two brothers, Robert Rumpf of Minersville, Paul Rumpf of Pine Grove; a sister, Grace Rumpf of Pine Grove, nieces and nephew.
All Services will be held at the convenience of the family with Dr. Richard Schoenleber officiating. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

James L. Strouse , 94, of Pottsville, PA, formerly of Sculps Hill Road, Auburn, and Orwigsburg, passed away at 10:30 PM, Saturday, July 22nd, at Schuylkill Center - Genesis Healthcare .
James was born in West Brunswick Township, PA on October 3, 1922, a son of the late Mary Ellen (Confer ) and Charles Strouse .
He was the widower of Bernice F. (Wildermuth ) Strouse . They enjoyed 56 years of marriage, before Bernice passed in 2001
He was a member of Faith Reformed United Church of Christ Landingville, and attended Pinedale School. James served in the U.S. Marines in WW II.
James worked as a heavy Equipment Operator & Mechanic in the coal industry. He was one of the founding members of the Blue Mountain School board , where he served many years.
James is survived by

Elaine K. , wife of Raymond Snyder , of Lehighton, A;
Susan J. , wife of Karl Stoudt , of Bernville, PA;
Diane F. , wife of Bernard Nace , of Pottsville, PA.

James is also survived by 10 Grandchildren : Michael, Jason, Kevin, Stephen, Adam, Stephanie, Sarah, Corinne, Julia and Jonelle. 10 Great Grandchildren.
He is predeceased by 5 brothers Norman, Claude, George, Henry & Aaron Strouse, Sr. and 6 sisters Helen Moyer, Lydia Schaeffer, Mable Herring, Blanche Schroding, Mary Grube and Ada Bensinger. Also surviving are Numerous Nieces and Nephews. James was the former companion of Irene Stump.
Religious Service will be held Thursday at 11:00 with Pastor James R. Fidler officiating, at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation services, Inc., Orwigsburg. Visitation from 9:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
