Earl F. "Zep" Zeplin, 85, of Ashland passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Broad Mountain Health & Rehab, Frackville, PA. 

Born on November 11, 1931 in Ashland, PA son of the late Earl and Jennie (Balliet) Zeplin. Earl graduated from Ashland High School in 1949. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He worked for 45 years at Gould Pump Company, formerly Goyne's, in Ashland, PA until retirement. He was a member of the Washington Fire Company for 58 years, Ashland Little League for over 15 years, and the American Legion, Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his wife Emily "Jane" Zeplin, July 7, 2016, a son Roddy, 2012, two sisters, one brother: Betty, Joyce, and Raymond. 

Surviving are a daughter and son; Leslie Lindenmuth and Jeffery Zeplin both of Ashland,PA. Two brothers: James; and Wally husband of Phyllis both of Lancaster, PA, four grandchildren: Jessica; Keith; William husband of Amy; and Shawn husband of Jen; and two great-grandchildren: Carson and Reiley.
Funeral Services will be held at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 15th, 2017 with Rev. Rose Marquardt officiating. Interment at Brock Cemetery Ashland, PA. Viewing Friday 9:00-11:00 AM from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA.

Hillary Pellish, 54, of Mount Sterling, KY, former Gordon resident, passed away Thursday. Born at the Fort Hood Army Hospital in Killeen, TX on August 15, 1963, she is the daughter of Elizabeth (Granzow) Gable of Ashland and the late Henry Gable Jr. She was a graduate of the North Schuylkill High School, Class of 1981, and was of the Lutheran faith

Hillary was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Ira Young of Mount Sterling, KY; daughters Heather of Mountain Home, ID, wife of Tom VanOsdol, and Jessica Pellish of Mount Sterling, KY; son Joseph Pellish III of Mount Sterling, KY; Granddaughters Dakota and Jordan VanOsdol of Mountain Home, ID; and sisters Heidi of Ashland, wife of Rick Walsh, and Haley of Las Vegas, NV, wife of Jeffrey Morse. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Jennifer Pellish, and her sister Hollie Gable.

Eloise J (Lutz) Hunt, age 75, of Owl Creek Rd., Tamaqua, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert J. Hunt.

Eloise graduated from Cooper Township High School and then matriculated to Lock Haven Teachers' College earning her Bachelor's degree. She taught in the Tyrone School District before teaching Eighth Grade English in the Tamaqua Area School District from 1968 until her retirement in 2000.

Eloise was Protestant by faith. She enjoyed reading, gardening and bird watching.

Born in Philipsburg, Pa. on September 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lucille (Walker) Lutz.

Thirteen Nieces and Nephews;
Twenty Great Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Howe.

Private Arrangements have been entruated to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.

Private Interment will be at Messiah Baptisit Church Cemetery, Kylertown.

Jamie E Folweiler, age 43, of Brown St., Tamaqua, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 9, 2017, in Zion Grove. Pennsylvania.

Born in Pottsville on September 22, 1973 the son of Edward M. and Donna (Hill) Folweiler with whom he resided. Jamie, is also survived by; sister, Donna Lee Moyer wife of Matthew of Tamaqua; brother, Edward Folweiler and his wife Jean of Quakake; nieces and nephews. and his special friend Gladys Stoudt who he called Gram.

A member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua., Jamie was a 1992 graduate of Tamaqua High School. He matriculated to Lehigh County Community College earning his Associates Degree in Business Management..

In his youth, Jamie lifted weights and participated in wheelchair racing. He was an advocate for the disabled. Jamie collected statues, and pictures of Eagles. Jamie was an avid car enthusiast and a Dallas Cowboys fan. He was an animal lover who adored his dogs Beauty, and Rusty, while always holding a place in his heart for his late dog Angel Lynn.

Madeline A. Buchanan, 79, Frackville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday morning surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Veronica Abromitis Luscavage. She had been employed as a secretary for Zapatas and Domalakes Insurance until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville, Frackville Area Senior Citizens, Frackville Elks Lodge #1533 and she was an avid bowler.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom H. Buchanan in 1996.

Madeline is survived by her son Gary and his wife Andrea Buchanan and her daughter Tracy Hughes both of Frackville, her sister Diane Luscavage, Pottsville, her grandchildren; Brian and his wife Judi Buchanan, Nicole Buchanan, Arielle Williams, Amanda Buchanan, Mya and Nathan Hughes, two great-grandchildren; Payton and Gunnar, several nieces and nephews.

Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville with Rev. Robert T. Finlan officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in Madeline’s name, to the memorial fund of St. Joseph’s Parish at 7 S. Broad Mountain Ave. Frackville, PA 17931.

Dale Griffiths, age 82, of Crest Ave., Tamaqua, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at St. Luke's Miners Medical Center, Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene J. (Derzak) Griffiths on September 27, 2016.

Born in Tamaqua, the son of the late E. Franklin and Mabel C. (Tennant) Griffiths.

Dale was a graduate of Tamaqua High School, and attended Stevens Trade School in Lancaster earning certification as a machinist. He retired from the Borough of Tamaqua having served as a police officer for twenty-five years. Prior to his tenure with the borough, Dale worked as a machinist in Reading.

A member of the First United Methodist Church of Tamaqua, Dale was a longtime member of the East End Fire Company having served as a line officer. He was an avid hunter, and 32 degree Mason.

Survived by; daughter, Kelly A Cerimele of Tamaqua; son,
Scott M Griffiths and his wife Marie of Coaldale; sister, E. Kay Young of Florida; Four Grandchildren, Dustin, Sasha, Sindle and Dominic; Three Great-Grandchildren, Cameron, Shilah and Jameson.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, E. Franklin Griffiths Jr. and A. George Griffiths.

A Remembrance Service will be held on Saturday morning September 16, 2017 from the funeral home at 11 o'clock A.M. Friends shall be received on the morning of services from 9:30 A.m. until time of services.

Charles H. “Charlie” Hepler, 77, Frackville passed away peacefully Monday evening, with his family at his side , at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East, Pottsville.

Born in Pitman he was a son of the late John “Wimp” and Coletta “Lettie” Donlan Hepler. He had been employed as a meat cutter for the former Anthony’s Supermarket, for over 20 years and then by Boyer’s Markets until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Parish, Frackville, Frackville American Legion Post #398, the Whipperwill Fish and Game and the Frackville Area Senior Citizens. He was a coach for Frackville Little League and Frackville Teener League for 11 years. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a US Army veteran having served as the crew chief of Sikorsky CH34 helicopter, where he received the Winged S Air Rescue Award for outstanding performance in a disaster in Longarone, Italy during the Vajont Dam disaster. He also received a medal of merit and commendation from the Italian Defense Minister.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Van Horn and his sister Mary Jane Fey.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 51* years Marilyn “Gilfert” Hepler, his son Charles J. “Chaz” and his wife Margaret Hepler, Frackville, his daughter Amy wife of Mike Prock, Frackville, his 7 grandchildren; Timothy Prock, Bobby and Jessica Van Horn, Emily, Zachary, Jacob and Ashley Hepler, his brother Dennis and wife Susan Hepler, Kulpmont, sister-in-law Charlene Boniscavage, Kutztown, also by nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Prayer Service will be held at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday evening with Rev. Christopher Zelonis officiating. Friends may call at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, on Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
