James E Hylton, Sr, age 86, of Spring Glen, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born on Wednesday, April 15, 1931, in Covel, WV, a son of the late James H Hylton and the late Gladys M Pennington Hylton.

He was a graduate of Matoka High School, Matoka, WV.
Jim served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was an owner/operator of the former Valley View Bottling Works.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View; where he was the former Secretary of the Council and Advisor for the Luther League.
Jim was also a member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Scottish Rite Consistory of the Valley of Harrisburg, American Legion Post 575 Valley View, and VFW Post 8237 Valley View.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baking for his grandchildren. Jim was a good Christian man and loved our Lord. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, who will cherish all of the fond memories.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Starr Hylton, to whom he was married for 63 years.
He is also survived by two daughters, Starr E Whitman and her husband David of Sacramento, Rhonda A Hylton of Enola; a son, James E Hylton, II of Valley View; five grandsons, David Whitman, Jr and his wife Sheila of Ocean City, MD, Chad Whitman and his wife Crystal of Valley View, Dan Whitman of Pitman, James E Hylton, III and his wife Alicia of Valley View, Jacob Hylton of West Chester; and eight great grandchildren, Brittanie Whitman, Brendan Whitman, Genesis Whitman, Jagger Whitman, Paris Whitman, Ireland Whitman, Logan Whitman, Karlie Hylton.
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, on Monday, September 25, 2017, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Brian Beissel and Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating. Masonic Services will be held at 10:45 a.m.
There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service.
Burial with Military Honors will be made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.

Kenneth was born in Pottsville, on October 5, 1932, a son of the late Sarah Elizabeth (Schoeneman) and Floyd Clifford Potts.
He was the husband of Mildred M. Vinc Potts. They celebrated 40 years of marriage on August 20.
Ken was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1950 and he served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl. in the Korean War.
He was formerly the co-owner of Keystoker and the was the former Wayne Township Supervisor, for more than 25 years. He was also the Wayne Township Lions Club 1st President.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his first wife Shirley E. Potts, infant daughter Theresa Jane Potts and great grandson Corey Herring.
In addition to Mildred, he is survived by sons Kenneth F. Potts, Jr. husband of Tracy, Schuylkill Haven and Daryl "Pete" Potts husband of Linda, Molino; step children Michael John Vinc husband of Mary Alice, Chesapeake City, MD, David Paul Vinc husband of Louann, St. Clair and Ronald George Vinc husband of Denise, St. Clair; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Jerusalem Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven, at 11 am on Tuesday, September 26th.

Robert A. Betz, Sr., 69, of High St., Pine Grove, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon.
Born on August 23, 1948 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Glenn A. Sr. and Lorraine Bensinger Betz.
He was a 1967 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School. After High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the 436th OMS and attained the rank of Sergeant in 1970.
Robert was a Plumber and worked for the former J. Wilson Barto & Sons, Pine Grove.
He was a member of the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432, Pine Grove American Legion Post 372, NRA, North End Fire Co., and the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club, Pine Grove.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Glenn A. Betz, Jr., Bruce Betz, Ronald Betz; and a sister Susan Potts.
He was a member of the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432, Pine Grove American Legion Post 372, NRA, North End Fire Co., and the Tulpehocken Rifle and Pistol Club, Pine Grove.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Jason Stump officiating. There will be a viewing on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home and Monday, September 25, 2017 from 10:30 A.M. until time of service at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Marie “Maya” Usewicz, 95 passed away peacefully on Wednesday at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.
Services and interment will be privately held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Mrs. Ruth M. Conti, 91, Girardville, passed away peacefully while under hospice care on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
Ruth was born January 16, 1926 in Brandonville, PA and was a daughter of the late James and Ethel Trexler Albright.
She was employed as a seamstress until her retirement. She was a devout member of St. John’s Luthern Church, Brandonville.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Conti, in 1994; a daughter: Diane Szafransky; two sisters: Alice Houser and Florence Clossen; her granddaughter, Angela Klinger; two great-grandchildren Victor and Audrey Klinger.
She is survived by her children and spouses; Phillip (Sandra) Conti, Center Valley, Raymond (Theresa) Conti, Shenandoah Heights, James Conti, Girardville, Joanne (Earl) Dietz, Ashland, Christine (Steve) Phillips, Coopersburg; her 9 loving grandchildren: Daniel Szafransky, Brian Conti, Wendi Carroll, Nicole and Jeffrey Dietz, Sean Kane, Stephen and Amy Phillips and Marissa Conti; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at St John’s Lutheran Church, Brandonville with Rev. Jay Serafin, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Shenandoah immediately following the service.
