Louis J. Deramo, 88, of Pottsville, died Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born May 28, 1929 in Palo Alto, he was the son of the late John and Bambina (Perseo) Deramo.
Louis was a member of Haven Baptist Church, Schuylkill Haven. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
A machinist by trade, he worked in local dress factories repairing sewing machines. He worked for Olenick Coal Company, Minersville driving truck. His most recent employer prior to his retirement was the Pottsville Area School District. He worked as a custodian at the John S. Clark Elementary Center and drove school bus for the District.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Anthony, Nicholas, Querino, and John Deramo; and three sisters, Stella Traini Coccia, Josephine DiRenzo, and Frances Sylvester.
Louis is survived by his wife of 60 years the former Gloria H. (Veet) Deramo, Pottsville; son Richard Deramo husband of Lorena, Potomac, MD; daughters, Gina Hall wife of Jim, Macungie, PA; Krista Schaeffer wife of Claude, Pottsville; and Gloria Noecker wife of Joe, Pottsville; grandchildren, Ben, Nina, Selena, Titus, Hudson, Akina, Britina, Cory, Lauren, Kristen, Jenna, Ray, Lauren, Hollie, and Alan. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend Ginger.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville. Pastor Rodney Gable, Officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9AM until the time of service. Interment with military honors will be held on the grounds of St. Joseph RC Cemetery, Pottsville.

Karen Marie Guers, 71, of Orwigsburg, passed away, Tuesday, September 26th, at her residence surrounded by family.
Karen was born in Lancaster, PA on November 25, 1945, a daughter of the late Doris Elizabeth (Skidmore) Androkitis and John Louis Androkitis.
She was the wife of Burd J. Guers. They were married on April 24, 1965.
She was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School class of 1963.
She earned her nursing degree from the Reading School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at the former Pottsville Hospital for over 39 years before retirement.
She was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg until her illness.
In addition to her husband, Burd, of 52 years, Karen is survived by her daughter, Sandy, wife of James Englert and her son, Steven Burd Guers husband of Michelle.

Her sister, Debra A., wife of Dennis Marbarger, and her brother, Carl L. Androkitis, husband of Debbie. Seven grandchildren: Amanda Brenize, wife of Tim, Ethan, Brianna, Taylor & Nicholas Englert and Ryan & Cassidy Guers. Two great grandchildren: Logan & Lily Brenize. Karen was looking forward to her third great grandchild, Layla. She is also survived by her best friend for over 63 years, Carol Schaeffer, nieces & nephews, and her loving dog, Ellie.
She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Zalonka, nephew Brian Marbarger, and grandson Mason Brenize.
A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00 AM on Monday, October 2nd at Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg, PA with a religious service to follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steward Warner officiating.
Karen lived her life always caring for others. She was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended countless athletic competitions, concerts and special events to support them and her biggest decision was where to sit: on the Blue Mountain or Pottsville side.
Karen will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was a devout member and volunteer for numerous church activities of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, now St. Joseph The Worker Parish, Frackville. She was a 1947 graduate of the former Frackville High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis " Gus " Heine in 1998, her daughter Colleen in 1958, two sisters; Mary Prete and Ann Yotko, four brothers; Metro, Adam, Steven and Michael Mallick and her son-in-law William T. Turner on Aug. 20, 2017
Helen is survived by her four daughters; Donna wife of Bernard Karpovich, Frackville, Lucinda Turner, Frackville, Deborah wife of Vasel Pepaj , Squaw Valley, CA,and Karen Bowe, Harrisburg, her son James F. and his wife Lynn Ann Heine, Newport, PA, her grandchildren; Maria Karpovich, Joseph, Jason and Kerry Turner, Babette, Nicole, Jarrett and Ayana Pepaj, Jason (Casey) Bowe, Ryan and Patrick Bowe, Loni Shaeffer, Jessica ( James ) Caprio, Brittany (Paul) Brutto, Samantha (Justin) Shapansky and several step-grandchildren, her great-grandchildren; Madison and Vincent Bowe, Rebecca, Riley and Annabelle Caprio, Zoey Quintinsky , Allison Brutto, Tanner and Kyler Shapansky and several step-great-grandchildren also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert T. Finlan, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of mass.
