Jane A. Springer, of Lincoln Drive, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital Bethlehem at the age of 87. 

The widow of Eugene F. Springer, she is survived by; daughters, Judith F. Matteo-Brennan of Tamaqua, Lisa A. Sneddon and her husband Brian of Fayetteville, NC,; sons, Ronald E. Springer and his wife Joanne of McAdoo, Douglas L. Springer and his companion Cathy Bernhard of Tamaqua, Michael E. Springer and his wife Bethann of Tamaqua; brother, Lee Bittner of New Ringgold; grand children, Sonia, Roxanne, Douglas, Jr., Ronald, Anthony, Matthew, Andrew; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mae Bittner; many nieces, nephews and friends also survive Jane. 

Born Thursday, November 20, 1930 in Quakake, the daughter of the late John, and Susan (Bachert) Bittner. She was also predeceased by; sister. Doris Miller; brothers, Leslie "Ben Bittner, Donald Bittner, and Edward Bittner; LLoyd N. Schmerfield. 

A member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tamaqua, Jane had worked as a sewer and inspector for the former J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills of Tamaqua. She was a great cook, enjoyed playing pinochle, singing songs and playing music. Jane, loved her family. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Crematin Services of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 29, 2017 at 11 o'clock A.M. from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 101 Greenwood Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252, Rev. Cindy White to officiate. Friends may call the morning of services in church from 9:30 AM until time of services. 

Private interment, Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

H. Clair Zimmerman, 91, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday, November 25th at his residence with his family by his side.

Clair was born in Akron, PA on January 13, 1926, a son of the late Beulah Emma (Miller) and Milo Henry Zimmerman.

Clair was the widower of Jane C. (Herrmann) Zimmerman.

He was a 1944 Akron High School Graduate and earned his degree in Business Administration from Elmhurst College.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a sergeant in WWII as a tail gunner.

Clair was employed as the former president of Kepner-Scott Shoe Company, his family business, in Orwigsburg.

He was a member of Congregational Free Church of Christ Orwigsburg. He was also a member of the Orwigsburg Gun Club, Bear Creek Fish Club, Orwigsburg Borough Council, a past member of the Orwigsburg Lions Club and served on the Schuylkill Haven Trust Company board of directors.

Clair is survived by his daughter, Susan L. Murphy and son, Steven J. Zimmerman, husband of Robin.

He is also survived by two sisters, Emma Zimmerman and Kathryn, wife of Reese Brookmiller and two brothers, Carrol Zimmerman, husband of Ann and Loren Zimmerman, husband of Dawn.

He also leaves granddaughters Amelia K. Ozimek, wife of Adam, Alison R. Pasierb, wife of Thaddeus, Audrey C. Zimmerman, Adelyn A. Zimmerman, Rebecca L. Eckert, wife of Douglas and Kelley E. Moyer, wife of Brent, and great grandchildren Aaron & Chelsea Eckert and Milo & Greta Pasierb. He was predeceased by his brother Milo Zimmerman.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 on Saturday, December 9th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, PA with Rev. Jeffrey C. Stonesifer officiating. Friends are invited to call from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregational Free Church of Christ, 81 McKeans Ridge Road, Orwigsburg, PA 17961, in Clair’s name.

Henrietta H. Gallup, of Ringtown, passed Monday, November 27th, 2017.

Born in Shavertown, on June 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Ronald Hughes and Hilda (Stevenson) Hughes, of Ringtown.

She was a graduate of the Westmoreland High School in Trucksville, Class of 1956.

Upon graduation, she worked for Dr. Carl E. Hontz in Shavertown as a dental assistant and secretary. She also worked as a secretary for the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, working with the Committee of 100, which worked on securing new industry for the Wilkes-Barre area. One of the first businesses brought to the Mt. Top area was the Everhart-Faber Pencil Company.

Moving to Ringtown in 1958, she worked at the General Cigar Company with her father. She also worked for the Fuller Brush Company. A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ringtown, Henrietta was a Sunday School teacher and also served as the secretary for the Sunday School.

She was very active in the Ringtown Valley, including being secretary for the Ringtown Valley Industrial Commission. She was the correspondent for the Pottsville Republican from 1971 until 1992, writing articles about the various organizations in the borough along with many feature articles. She served as secretary for the Ringtown Christmas Lighting Committee since 1971, and she was a member of the Publicity Committee for the 1976 Ringtown Bicentenial Committee, which featured many programs and a huge parade. She also served as an elected auditor for the Borough of Ringtown.

Henrietta loved scrap booking and going on retreats with her scrap booking friends to Dushore. She was last employed by Dr. Raymons Hische, Schuylkill Mall Dental Center from 1986 until her retirement in April of 2017.

In addition to her father, Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband Robert Gallup in 2009, and by her brother Bernard Hughes and her sister in-law, Patsy Hughes.

Along with her mother, Hilda Hughes of Ringtown, she is survived by her children, James Gallup and his wife Ann of Caledonia, MN; and Linda G. Bachman Lauer, wife of Jeff Lauer of Drums.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Ashley, wife of Phillip Hennessy of Newnan, GA and Katie Ann Bachman of Hazleton. Two step grandchildren, John Wolfe, Superior, MN and Elizabeth, wife of Luke, Mankato, MN; a great grandson, Philip Hennessy, and three step great grandchildren, Jonathan Wolfe, Anthony Lowe and Madyson Lowe, all of Minnesota.

She is also survived by a sister, Michele, wife of Alan Ross, Douglassville; a nephew Kevin Hughes and his wife Debbie, of Zion Grove; nephew Kyle Ross, Douglassville, a niece Kelsey Ross, Philadelphia; a great niece, Jennifer, wife of Jesse Yencho, RIngtown and a great-great niece Karleigh Burke, all of Ringtown.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Service which will be held on Thursday, , November 30th at 1 PM at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.

Henrietta will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery, Ringtown, following the service.
