Coroner James F. Kelley identified the victims in the Tuesday crash as Keyla M. De Los Santos, 27, and her son, Jonathan Anthony, 29 days old, both of Mahanoy City.
Two other victims in the crash, an adult driver of the van suffered life threatening injuries and a minor in the backseat suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident occurred at 5:26 p.m. on a curve between Bear Gap Road and the Aqua Pa. water treatment facility on the Natalie Mountain. It was reported to be snowing at the time.
The minivan in which Santos and her son were passengers slid out of control and into the path of a tractor-trailer. The truck, hauling a Wegman’s trailer filled with 11,000 pounds of products, T-boned the passenger side of the van.
