Sarah J. (Stroble) Umlauf, 106, of Ashland, PA passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Home, Shenandoah, PA. Born in Ashland, PA on November 16, 1911 the daughter of the late George and Viola (Bodman) Stroble. She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Independent Church, Locust Dale and the Ashland Senior Citizens.
Funeral Services will be held at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 15, 2018 with Rev. Rose Marquardt officiating.

James R. Johns, age 84, of Pottsville, PA passed away Thursday, January 11th, 2018 at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Frackville.
Born in Port Carbon, PA on November 6, 1933, he was the son of the late George and Thelma (Reading) Johns.
Jim was a graduate of Soldier's Memorial High School, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1954. Jim worked first as a draftsman for the Dye Design Department at ALCOA in Cressona. He then became a Realtor, working for Robert Koch Real Estate and Ryan Real Estate. Jim last worked as the Manager Secretary for the Cressona Borough until retiring.
Jim was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ in Cressona and he was a 50 year member of the Mason's Cressona F. & A. M. Lodge 222. Jim had a love for animals, especially his dogs.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ronaleen M. (Wehner) Johns, Pottsville; a daughter Lois Ann Muscara and her husband Frank, Pottsville; 2 sons: James K. Johns and his wife Germaine, Cressona and Jeffrey S. Johns, Schuylkill Haven; 5 grandchildren: Frank Muscara Jr., Samantha Kupper and her husband Jared, Evan and Ryan Johns, and Christina Fenstermacher; 3 great-grandchildren: Kayson Kupper, Emily Daniels, and Lily Fenstermacher; cousins: Brian and Gerald Reading, both of Schuylkill Haven; aunt Clara Reading, Elizabethtown; and his very best friend Victor Caruso and his wife Erma, Palmyra.
A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 10:30AM on Thursday, January 18th, with Pastor Bruce Dalious officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday evening from 6-8PM and Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30AM at the Funeral Home.
Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Lilia T. Pajanel, 71, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday, January 11th, at her residence.
Lillia was born in the Philippines on December 17, 1946.
She was of the Catholic faith and was previously employed at Berks Heim Nursing Home as a dietary aide.
She is preceded in death by her son, Carlito Delgado.
Lillia is survived by four daughters, Cristy Marberger & husband, Benjamin Good, Lillian Delgado-Samonte & husband, Josefino M. Samonte, Julieta Delgado Layug, and Lolita Canu, and a son,Rodolfo B. Delgado, as well as grandchildren, Robert Litton, Jr., Lily Good, Ruby Good, and Donna Good, and great-granddaughter, Mariah Litton, and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren in the Philippines.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, on Monday, January 15th, with Monsignor Edward Zemanik officiating, at 2 p.m.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Interment will be privately held at the family's convenience.
Joy (Schultz) Tomaino, 93, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Providence Place, Pottsville.
She was born July 29, 1924, in Pottsville, to the late Guy Hunter and Edna (Grebe) Schultz.
Joy was a member of First United Methodist. She was a part of the United Methodist Women’s Group.
After graduating high school, Joy went on to gain her bachelor’s degree in German from Bucknell University. She furthered her education by attending Drexel, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Library Science. While at Bucknell, she was inducted in to the National German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha. This was an accomplishment she held close to her heart and was very proud of.
For many years, Joy worked as a reference librarian at the Pottsville Free Public Library. Joy was a voracious reader throughout her entire life. In addition to her scholastic accomplishments, Joy also traveled the United States and most of Europe. In her free time, she loved to play golf and tend to her rose garden. A well-educated and traveled woman, she will be greatly missed by her family.
In addition to her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony “Skip” Tomaino and a sister Anne Alice Emerick.
Joy is survived by son, Paul Miller, Pottsville and daughter, Jill Salmon and her husband John, Pottsville; grandson, Benjamin and his wife Amanda Mincavage; granddaughter, Clara Miller, step great granddaughter, Haley Clanton, sister, Betty Lou Harvey, Albuquerque, NM, two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville with the Rev. John Wallace. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Private interment will be held at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pottsville Free Public Library at 208 West Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901.
