Students Raise Money for School Activities Through Fun Run

On Friday, students at North Schuylkill Elementary spent their day participating in a fun run to raise money for school activities.

The event was organized by the North Schuylkill Elementary PTO, with students raising money prior to the event through donations and pledges.

Donors pledged money for each lap the student walked/ran during the event.  Each student was allowed a maximum of 35 laps.

All money raised goes directly back the students for yearly field trips, end of the year carnival, in school programs, and any other items or events that the students need.

The original goal set for the event was to raise $10,000 but prior to the start of the event on Friday, students had raised just over $19.000.  By the afternoon, half the students had already walked enough laps to raise over $20,000.  Donations will be accepted for one more week.

Students kicked off the event last Thursday with a pep rally, held by Boosterthon team members, to begin the 8 day event.

Throughout the week, students were actively involved in grade level huddles. There, the Boosterthon teams are teaching students character building lessons along with the importance of physical fitness.

If you would like to donate towards the event, message on Facebook or email Skook News for more details at skooknews@outlook.com.
