Police Arrest Three in Warrant Sweep Late Thursday

Three individuals were arrested late Thursday by police during a warrant sweep in Mahanoy City.

On Thursday, February 1st, 2018 between 7:00pm and 9:00pm, the Mahanoy City Police Department conducted a warrant sweep in the borough for individuals wanted on charges ranging from drug charges to probation violation.

Mahanoy City Police Chief Kenneth Zipovksy stated "Multiple avenues of enforcement and crime prevention will continue to be utilized by the Mahanoy City Police Department to provide the police service that the community truly deserves.  This warrant sweep is just another tool utilized in Mahanoy City Police Department’s continuous campaign to suppress the criminal element in the northern Schuylkill County community.".

The first individual apprehended was Michael Swartz, 63.  Swartz was wanted for a Schuylkill County Probation violation and was taken into custody in the 1000 block of East Railroad Street at approximately 7:15pm.

The second individual apprehended was Heather Kessler, 32 ,who was wanted on a Schuylkill County Probation violation.  Kessler was taken into custody in the 700 block of East Mahanoy Avenue around 9:00pm.

Both were taken into custody and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.

The final person taken into custody was Hakeen Glenn, 30, of Reading.  Glenn was taken into custody around 9:00pm for being a Interstate Fugitive who was wanted by the Delaware State Attorney General’s Office for Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. Glenn also faces additional charges from the Mahanoy City Police for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Glenn was arraigned, and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $40,000 cash bail.
