Thomas W. Mooney, age 90, of Pottsville, PA passed away Monday, February 5th, 2018 at Providence Place in Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, PA on January 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Francis and Helen (Kirk) Mooney.
Tom was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School, Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948 and then in the Army National Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer. While in the Guard, he worked in the administrative department at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville for 40 years until retiring in 1988, where he received numerous special achievement awards for "Sustained Superior Performance". Tom received the Pennsylvania Meritorious Medal Award on January 24, 1973 for his distinguished service during Tropical Storm Agnes.
Tom was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church in Port Carbon and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Schuylkill County Chapter 431, where he was a former Grand Knight and the financial secretary from 1964 till 2004.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Francis and Joseph Mooney and a sister Georgene Wagner.
Tom is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agatha C. (Avillion) Mooney, Pottsville, a son Thomas F. Mooney, Wilkes Barre; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, PA. at 10AM on Saturday, February 10th, with Msgr. William Glosser officiating.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30AM at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon.
Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Pottsville.

William L. “Butch” Wiscount, 74, of Minersville, passed away on Monday at home.
Born in Tremont, he was a son of the late Joseph and Amanda Elizabeth “Betty” Linn Wiscount. He was a 1961 graduate of Tremont High School. He was employed as a Fleet Material Support Officer at the Naval Support Activity, Mechanicsburg, retiring in 1997. He had also worked for the Fuller Company, Manheim, and as a Computer Programmer at Fort Indiantown Gap.
He was a 30-year veteran of the Army National Guard, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Minersville. He was also a member of American Legion Post #239, Williamstown, the Tremont Community Band, the Tremont Community Organization, the Minersville Area Band & Choir Association, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), and a life member of Minersville Fire & Rescue.
He was well known for making bleenies in support of several of the organizations to which he belonged.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael Wiscount, Sr., Robert “Pete” Wiscount, and Joseph F. Wiscount.
Butch is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Yvonne M. Ann; two daughters, Lynn Ann Wiscount (fiancĂ©, Dale Zulick), Friedensburg, and Anissa M. Kistler (spouse, William), New Ringgold; five siblings, Carl “Bus” Wiscount (companion, Penny Rodgers), Minersville, Elizabeth “Cindy” Conway, Branchdale, Judith Cleary (spouse, Thomas), Tremont, Cheryl “Chip” Mack (spouse, Laine, Sr.), Tremont and Bonita “Bonnie” Ege, Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 6:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 541 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Friday at 11:30 A.M. Interment with military honors will be on Friday at 2:00 P.M. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township.
