Woman Flown After Crash near Tamaqua Late Tuesday

A woman was seriously injured in a crash near Tamaqua late Tuesday.

Around 10:15pm, Tuesday, emergency personnel were called to the West Penn Pike (Route 309) near Clamtown Road in West Penn Township, near Tamaqua for a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a tractor trailer with heavy entrapment.

A woman travelling south on Route 309 reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a tractor trailer head on.

The woman was entrapped in her vehicle over an hour until she was taken to a waiting helicopter and flown to an area hospital.

The woman's injuries were listed as serious.
