Around noon Wednesday, officials closed Route 309 over the Blue Mountain due to conditions.
According to Schuylkill County Emergency Management, as of 1:00pm, Wednesday, both the Schuylkill and Lehigh County sides of the Blue Mountain south of Tamaqua are closed due to vehicles being stranded.
The area should be avoided.
UPDATE (1:30pm) - The highway is now open.
Road conditions have worsened midday, Wednesday. Use caution if you are travelling.
