An Oneida man died Monday morning in crash on Interstate 81 in Lebanon County.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Jonestown, the crash occurred around 10:00am near Milemark 87 in the Northbound lanes of Interstate 81.
The victim, identified Jonathan Meier, 30, of Oneida was a passenger in a 2017 Kia Sportage when the driver, who was not identified, had to swerve to avoid running into a 2002 Jeep Liberty that was in front and was attempting to make a left turn into an emergency crossover.
When the driver swerved, the vehicle struck a tree, overturned and ejected Meier from the vehicle.
Meier died from his injuries.
The driver of the Kia suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
The driver of the Jeep Liberty left the scene heading south on Interstate 81 but later returned to the scene.
The crash closed northbound Interstate 81 for over 2 Hours while the crash was investigated.
